A unique learning experience

British School of Valencia is a private school offering British education to pupils of all nationalities aged between 2 and 18.

Since the beginning we have striven to offer a different and distinct educational model. Our key objective is to provide our pupils with excellent preparation both at an academic level and on a personal and human level, stimulating their  reativity and encouraging initiative and personal effort. We are particularly proud of the learning environment we provide our pupils, where our values of respect, collaboration and willingness to share in their educational experience make them feel unique, understood, appreciated and loved.

All of which combined makes attending BSV a unique learning experience for your children. Come and discover it for yourself.

Early Years Foundation Stage / 2 to 5

At this first stage of school, boys and girls learn, share and play in a friendly, trusting and fun atmosphere where the only language used is English. Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), is how the British Education system describes the time in your childs life between birth and age five. This is a very important stage as it helps a child get ready for their future learning and successes. From when your child comes to school up until the age of five, their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs. The child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through seven areas of learning and development.

“Academic learning, excellent results and language learning from the first years alongside a personal education based on respect and tolerance, aimed at stimulating creativity, thoughtfulness, initiative and personal effort all make our school special. We strive to ensure each boy and girl, each pupil feels unique, understood, appreciated and loved”

Carmen Santafé Company

Head of the British School of Valencia

Primary Education / 5 to 11

School life is particularly well represented during this stage, our pupils enjoy a formative and pleasant learning environment where learning becomes an enriching experience. We encourage strong work habits and promote respect, tolerance and an ethos of coexistence among pupils, our school’s hallmark. The first two years of Primary Education are covered by Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2); these years have an inclusive and preparatory nature, where pupils are exposed to learning strategies which, although still simple, can be applied to the following years of this stage. In Key Stage 2 (from Year 3 to Year 6) there is greater focus on academic content and pupils are prepared for the transition to secondary education.

“At Primary level, and in fact any level, it’s crucial to encourage the child’s character and personality to help them tackle the future with dignity and tenacity”

Secondary Education / 11 to 16

As in the case of previous stages, the objectives and subjects set out in the National Curriculum determine the way in which our pupils tackle these decisive school years. Over the first three years, Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and Year 9), a wide range of subjects provide our pupils with a solid foundation. At this point the English language should be fully grounded as the vehicular language for learning.

The final two years, Year 10 and Year 11, cover Key Stage 4. The British IGCSE elective subjects, core syllabus and final examinations are necessary to obtain British and Spanish secondary school qualifications and clearly mark and determine the path to follow in order during Higher Secondary Education.

“Only in a trusting, enriching and pleasant atmosphere, such as the one enjoyed by our pupils, can children become inspired learners”

Sixth Form, GCE AS & A Level / 16 to 18

Without a doubt the British Higher Secondary Education system endows pupils with one of the best academic preparations to then go on to meet the current entry requirements for their chosen university degree, both in Europe and beyond. Depending on pupils’ preferences and aptitudes the system allows to the syllabus to be tailored to individual pupils and includes subjects which in many cases are taught at university level. This stage also encourages skills essential for young people today, such as inquisitiveness to embark on research, critical thinking, teamwork and oratory.

This stage covers two years (Year 12 and Year 13) and during both pupils will be required to sit official exams marked by external examining boards. These exams at the British School of Valencia are marked by the Cambridge University examining board.
