Primary Education

Growing up confident from Primary Education

Primary Education is designed to build upon the foundations laid during Early Years.

Our curriculum aims to empower students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and self-assurance for them to keep growing and progressing in their learning.

Primary Education in BSV: Key Stage 1 (Year 1 & 2)

The first two years of Primary Education, have an inclusive and preparatory nature. This stage provides the skills which prepare students to grow and develop confidence in their future studies. It encourages them to become the leaders of their learning whilst they explore and experience for themselves.

Regarding the academic curriculum, all subjects are taught in English except for Spanish Language which students start studying in Year 1.

In this Key Stage, they study the following subjects:

Primary Education in BSV: Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to 6)

Key Stage 2 is a vital stage in a child’s learning. Students develop their core knowledge, understanding and skills through exciting and stimulating lessons that promote learning in a dynamic, supportive environment with a strong emphasis on developing positive social and emotional skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

Once they reach Year 4, students begin to study Valenciano and in Year 5 they begin to study French which it's introduced as a second foreign language.

In this Key Stage, they study the following subjects:

This Key Stage also represents the transition to Secondary Education. Year 6 marks the final year of Primary Education and it ensures that students are academically and emotionally ready to face new challenges and meet expectations.

Teachers play an essential role in ensuring a smooth transition, setting students up for continued growth and achievement in their educational journey.

Extra-curricular

All the Primary Education students can enjoy our extra-curricular activities programme.

For more information, please visit Extra-Curricular Activities.

In Primary they can also participate in different Student Voice groups. This gives students the opportunity to play an active role in decisions that affect all members of the school.

Groups are organised to plan and review events, actions, and activities for the whole school and to take responsibility for how this will happen.

Student Voice groups in Primary

This is made up of volunteers from all classes as well as teachers and other members of the community with an interest in the environment. The Eco-Rangers are responsible for carrying out environmental reviews and preparing a whole-school action plan.

Curriculum Captains (Years 1 to 6)

Students look at the learning that has been done over the previous weeks and have the opportunity to suggest activities that they would like to do again and ideas for new activities.

Student Council (Years 1 to 6)

This is made up of members from each class. This group of children meets to discuss and implement ideas that could help improve the school, such as fund-raisers, House Point competitions and special assemblies.

Digital Leads (Years 3 to 6)

Helping students use devices (iPads) safely and responsibly is just one way Digital Leaders improve our school. They also help teachers connect with new apps and platforms for their classes and organise special events.
