Admissions Process

Applying for a place at British School of Valencia

We have designed our admissions process to be as easy as possible. We will happily guide you step by step.

6 steps process:
1
Contact us

Once you have made an enquiry, our Admissions Officer will get in contact with you.

2
Visit BSV

We will invite you to experience what British School of Valencia can offer to your children whilst you learn more about our varied curriculum and discover the learning atmosphere by booking a private tour or attending an open day.

3
Entry requirements

Students from Year 2 to Year 13 will have to provide school reports and proof of their level of English. Depending on their age they will attend an interview to assess their academic ability.

4
Offer of place

After submitting the required reports and successfully completing the interview if needed, we will make a time-limited formal offer of a place for your child to join our school. If no places are available for your desired entry date, your child will be placed on our waiting list. We will then notify you when a place becomes available.

5
Admissions documentation

If you accept the offer, you will then be requested to complete the admissions enrolment documents and pay the admission fee to secure your child’s admission.

6
Start at BSV

From the moment you and your child arrive at BSV we will ensure that you enjoy a smooth process and a positive experience and soon feel part of the BSV community.

Entry requirements

Students must submit the enrolment forms provided by the school and all the necessary personal and academic documents.

Preference is given to siblings of students already at the school.

Early Years & Year 1

For the admission of Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Reception and Year 1 students’ parents will only have to provide the enrolment forms and all the necessary personal documents.

Children are not required to have any prior knowledge of English.

Primary

Students applying for places in Year 2 to Year 6 must have an age-appropriate level of spoken and written English as well as understanding of numeracy.

Previous school reports and a proof of their level of English will also be requested. A meeting between the Head of Primary and the pupil will be arranged to meet them and check their knowledge and skills.

Secondary

We need to make sure that any student who joins BSV at this stage (Year 7 to Year 11) has a suitable level of English and other relevant subjects therefore, you will have to provide the students two last school reports and proof of their level of English.

If a place is available, an appointment will be made for parents to visit the school. At this point potential students will be asked to pass an admissions interview.

Sixth Form

Pre-University candidates (Year 12 & 13) will be required to provide evidence that they have achieved 5 A*-C (9-4) IGCSE, or their equivalent, in their previous school. Candidates will have to provide their past school reports and proof of their current level of English (level C1-C2).

They will then sit an interview designed to assess their spoken level of English in order to check that they will be able to participate in the Pre-University curriculum. During the interview, students will be counselled based on their preferences for them to choose the most suitable AS/A-Level subject areas.
