Information Technology and Communication (ICT) applied to Education are a highly important part of the educational design and teaching programme at the British School of Valencia. In fact, the British National Curriculum includes this area from the first year of Primary Education (Year 1), continuing its study, learning and, especially practice until the end of Secondary Education, and optionally (IGCSE) for students in the final two years.

At the British School of Valencia, the area of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) is one of the subjects offered to obtain the General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and GCE "A" Levels. At the same time, our students may prepare and sit exams at our centre allowing them to obtain the International Diploma in Computer Studies from the University of Cambridge.

Apart from the aspect already mentioned above, New Information Technologies and Communication (ICT) constitute a multidisciplinary tool that is part of our daily routine for a variety of purposes:

• As a teaching resource to facilitate the learning process of the curricular content in each area.
• As a working tool for teachers and students.

To familiarise themselves with and acquire training in the realm of new technologies, our Primary Education students have computers in the classrooms as an education resource adapted to each level and age.

Both Primary and Secondary departments have, as well as the computers in the classrooms, specific ICT suites, networked and with internet access. These classrooms are used to teach the children computing skills as well as allowing the teachers to create an online resource bank.
