The area of Art and Design is an integral part of the National Curriculum, applicable to all students from Foundation up to Key Stage 3. It is also an optional subject offered in all years of the IGCSE levels. The philosophy of this area is to stimulate the creative ability of all students, regardless of their initial skills, based on the assumption that all children have enough potential to express their creativeness themselves.

Drawing is a key to all projects, and students are encouraged to work with a variety of techniques, including sculpture, textiles, painting, multimedia elements and ICT. Through creative exploration, students are able to develop skills and organise their ideas. Students also thoroughly research the works of artists, designers and architects to inspire and support their own work. Cultural visits are often organised to museums and exhibitions related to some of the many artistic disciplines studied. In addition, a cultural visit is organised each year to another European city for students in KS4 where they can complement what they have worked on over the year in the area of Art and Design.

In Valencia, the Fallas Festival is an excellent opportunity to develop the most creative aspects of everything related to Art and Design. That is why, during the Fallas, each class works as a group, and then all together, to create a falla. This allows students to explore designs with construction and imagination as the fundamental keys. The subsequent exhibition of their projects is something that adds value to the work of the students. All of this translates to high motivation in this subject, whilst at the same time promoting a friendly working environment.
